Six learning communities under one roof.
Education Design International, working with local architects ABT planners, master-planned and designed the Frankel-Meitarim School of Ra’anana for the Branco Weiss Institute. Spanning three floors and a construction area of more than 5,000 square meters, the building sets aside the traditional classroom model and organizes the school instead into six learning communities.
Each learning community is conceived as a setting for collaboration, engagement, and a sense of belonging rather than a corridor of separate rooms. Around and between them are the school’s shared spaces — a Beit Midrash, art and music rooms, laboratories, gathering spaces, and sports facilities — which serve as catalysts for inspiration and tie directly into the school’s pedagogical model.
The result supports Frankel-Meitarim’s mission of a value-based, pluralistic Jewish education — bringing together students of different backgrounds and emphasizing academic and life skills, responsibility for one’s own learning, and a commitment to improving the world.
