International School of Brussels
EDI designed the learning environment for the new high school at the International School of Brussels — one of the world’s leading IB schools.

When the environment becomes the lesson.
Education Design International worked with the International School of Brussels — one of the world’s leading IB schools — on the learning environment for its new high school. Founded in 1951 and set in the Forêt de Soignes on the southern edge of Brussels, ISB serves students from more than 60 nationalities, guided by a simple promise: everyone included, everyone challenged, everyone successful.
The result is a high school where the building itself models good teaching and learning. In place of conventional corridors and rows of identical rooms, the design opens into a connected sequence of settings — a central commons and gathering stair, flexible studios, breakout lounges, a library, and science laboratories — letting students move between whole-group, small-group, and independent work across the day.
Writable glass, abundant daylight, and a range of comfortable settings turn the building into an everyday tool for learning — an environment designed to live up to ISB’s belief that every learner can be included, challenged, and successful.
