Horace Greeley is one of the top performing high schools in the United States. We were charged with the task of converting a space occupied by four classrooms and a hallway into an innovation lab that would accommodate a modern High School curriculum. We worked closely with a group of 17 teachers who were designated as “Innovation Fellows” to develop student-centered, interdisciplinary and hands-on “curriculum units”. Over the past five years, this iLAB has become an icon of excellence in the country. Many of the ideas and concepts developed here have been incorporated into schools around the world.
