Global Indian International School
A 485,000 sft K-12 campus for 3,800 students — a harmonious fusion of nature, sustainability, and student-centered design, inspired by the symbolism of a bird's nest and built around a seven-story central courtyard.
A campus built around nature, well-being, and flight.

Inspired by a bird’s nest.
Education Design International served as the planning, programming, and design architect for this 3,800-student independent school campus in Singapore, creating a harmonious fusion of nature, sustainability, and student-centered design. Inspired by the symbolism of a bird’s nest, the school provides a nurturing environment where students can learn, grow, and ultimately take flight into their futures.
Through an in-depth study of the surrounding ecosystem, the site was found to be positioned along the migration path of multiple local bird species, including some endangered varieties. This discovery informed the design of the seven-story central courtyard, which serves as a protective sanctuary for students. By seamlessly integrating sustainability, well-being, and a deep respect for nature, this campus is more than just a place of learning — it is a living, breathing environment that fosters environmental stewardship and a meaningful connection to the world beyond the school building.
The design gives form to GIIS’s signature Nine Gems™ educational framework, built on one foundational concept: the importance of providing a well-rounded education — a dynamic, holistic approach interwoven throughout everything the school does.
