Mallika Nair
Mallika’s role at EDI is to work with our design team to maximize outdoor learning opportunities for students. She is passionate about increasing access to green spaces and youth empowerment. In 2013, Mallika started Growing Together, a nonprofit that plants trees and gardens and offers environmental education in Oakland, California. In this role she worked with teachers, students, and members of the school district to design and install green schoolyards, gardens, and fruit trees at over 45 California public schools. She also collaborated with teachers to create garden and environmental justice curriculums for all ages and led groups of high school apprentices at Castlemont High School in East Oakland. After 5+ years as Director of the organization, she currently serves on the board of Growing Together, as well as works as a grant writer to support environmental justice organizations around the country. She holds a BA from the New College of Florida in Environmental Studies and a Masters of Science in Agroecology from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
