The Project

Building the future of education by preparing the next generation of teachers.

Developed for Misioneras Hijas de la Sagrada Familia de Nazaret and Esclavas de la Eucaristía, this project brings together a Teachers Training College and an integrated Early Years to Secondary School within a single educational campus. Designed for one of the world’s youngest nations, the project responds to a fundamental challenge by strengthening teacher education while creating high-quality learning opportunities for future generations.

EDI envisioned the campus as a collaborative learning environment where teacher training and school education exist in close partnership. By integrating both institutions, the design creates opportunities for future educators to learn, observe, and engage with contemporary teaching practices in a real school setting. This relationship fosters a culture of continuous learning while strengthening the connection between educational theory and classroom practice.

The campus is planned to support collaboration, creativity, and community through flexible learning environments that encourage interaction across different age groups and learning experiences. Shared learning spaces, informal gathering areas, and adaptable teaching environments promote active learning while creating a welcoming campus that reflects the aspirations of a growing nation. More than an educational facility, the project establishes a foundation for long-term educational development by investing in the people who will shape the future of learning in Timor-Leste.
