Safa Community School, Dubai

Safa Community School in Dubai is a new 2,000 student school located inthe Al Barsha district. The vision of the promoters & the closely-knit Safa Community School was to create a new British School that will emerge and stand out as a premier educational facility in Dubai, UAE. And with this idea, EDI was tasked with the planning & design of the school.

Standing by the edge of Umm Suqeim Road, the site is prominent and can be viewed from multiple sides. The building form itself maximizes the opportunities on the site, creating a stunning public frontage. The nearby Miracle Garden gives a beautiful view of the main sports and performing art zones. The external decks ensure that all teaching spaces have good connections to the outdoors.

The strategic location of the Global Learning Centre with all the co-curricular activities, indoor sports, theatre, cafetorium, and media resource centre enables the accessibility for students, teachers and parents alike. Open spaces have been carefully maximized for the effect of daylight and cross ventilation. The learning communities are characterized by indoor and outdoor connections with design elements creating large shaded external areas for each block.

Movement and access to the site are very simple, either arriving on foot or by car. Each of the academic blocks has been designed with multiple entrances for different year groups, to draw people in from the central street and to minimize congestion at any point of the building.
