Liwa International School Falaj Hazza
An expansion of Liwa International School Falaj Hazza in Al Ain — a contemporary high-school environment for around 1,200 students, planned spoke-and-hub around shared facilities, with splayed-wall studios that turn circulation into learning space.
A high-school expansion, hub and spokes.

An expansion built around splayed-wall studios.
Liwa International School Falaj Hazza set out to expand its Al Ain campus with a contemporary high-school environment for around 1,200 students — one that would strengthen the connections across the school it joined. EDI planned the expansion on a spoke-and-hub strategy, organising it into distinct learning communities while keeping seamless links between the different academic areas.
Shared facilities — the auditorium, the learning resource centre, and the art studios — form the social and educational heart of the campus, drawing students out of their individual rooms to work across subjects and year groups. The plan treats these shared spaces as the hub that the learning communities connect into.
The expansion’s defining move is the splayed wall. Inside the learning studios, angled walls replace conventional corridors with wider, more open circulation that doubles as teaching space — interactive pathways where communication, collaboration, and spontaneous conversation happen as students move through the day. Completed in 2020, the project turns everyday circulation into part of the learning environment.
