The Project

Dedicated learning environments, shared campus identity.

The Liceo de Monterrey – Redwood Campus master plan reimagines a Catholic K-12 campus in Monterrey, Mexico, for 1,560 students across 13,000 square meters. EDI served as campus master planner and schematic designer, aligning innovative educational practice with Liceo’s traditions of faith, discipline, and gender-separated learning — evolving the campus from classroom-based instruction toward a student-centered ecosystem organized around collaborative Learning Communities, inquiry-driven instruction, and interdisciplinary exploration.

A central focus was balancing Liceo’s philosophy of gender separation with opportunities for broader community connection. Dedicated boys’ and girls’ academic environments provide focused settings tailored to each program, while shared facilities — dining commons, chapel spaces, libraries, athletics, and gathering hubs — reinforce unity and a shared identity across the campus. Flexible studios, seminar spaces, project studios, maker environments, and science labs are integrated throughout to support hands-on discovery, teamwork, and authentic engagement.

The design also responds to a highly constrained urban site with strict height, setback, and area limits — organizing the campus vertically to maximize learning, flexibility, and indoor-outdoor connection within a compact footprint. Shaded courtyards, outdoor learning spaces, landscaped gardens, and active circulation extend the learning experience across the whole campus, where faith, inquiry, wellness, and community shape a future-focused environment rooted in Catholic values.
