Beaumont HFSI Pre-Primary
An early-years campus for Beaumont HFSI in Mumbai — an open, barrier-free environment that trades conventional classrooms for flexible activity zones children can move through freely, anchored by a rainbow flight of gathering steps.
An early-years campus, planned without walls.

An open, barrier-free early-years landscape.
Beaumont HFSI Pre-Primary was designed around how young children actually learn — through play, movement, and curiosity. Rather than a row of conventional classrooms, EDI planned the campus as an open, barrier-free environment, so children can move freely between activities while staying within carefully supervised sightlines. The aim was a place that builds independence and confidence and still feels secure.
Flexible activity zones let a single space serve quiet reading at one moment and group play the next, and let children follow their own interests through the day. Warm materials, vibrant colour, and furniture sized for small bodies make the rooms feel welcoming, while built-in storage, cosy reading corners, and a rainbow flight of gathering steps give the campus its own clear character.
Every detail is pitched to early childhood — intuitive, adaptable, and easy for a young child to read and use on their own. Completed in 2016, Beaumont HFSI pairs playful design with learner-centred planning to create a pre-primary campus where the architecture supports a child’s first steps toward learning independently.
