Abu Dhabi University — Al Ain Campus
Higher-education interiors for Abu Dhabi University's Al Ain campus — 260,000 square feet shaped by the symbolism of the Ghaf tree and a concept of interconnected “worlds of learning.”
A higher-education campus, reimagined from the inside.

Interiors inspired by the Ghaf tree.
Abu Dhabi University’s Al Ain Campus was envisioned as a contemporary learning environment that celebrates the UAE’s cultural heritage while embracing an international outlook on higher education. EDI led the interior design across the 260,000-square-foot campus, shaping a student experience that inspires curiosity, collaboration, and personal growth in support of the university’s mission to prepare future-ready graduates in an increasingly interconnected world.
Drawing on the symbolism of the Ghaf tree — the national tree of the UAE — EDI developed the interiors around the concept of “Cosmoses”: interconnected worlds of learning, discovery, and human potential. Bold architectural forms, expressive materiality, and immersive visual experiences combine to create an environment that encourages exploration, self-mastery, ethical development, and the continuous pursuit of knowledge.
The interiors were carefully planned to foster a holistic student experience while respecting the university’s operational and cultural requirements, including dedicated learning environments for male and female students. Flexible social spaces, collaborative settings, and adaptable interiors encourage interaction and student wellbeing — transforming the campus into vibrant learning communities that reflect the university’s vision of academic excellence, cultural identity, and lifelong learning.
