Dr. Vladimir Kuskovski has a truly international background. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Minsk Linguistic University in Belarus, with graduate studies at Manchester University in the UK as part of a graduate exchange program.
After moving to the United States, Vladimir worked as a teacher and administrator in both public and independent schools, taking an active part in developing the IB programme. He later became an IB trainer and IB examiner for Russian A1 and B, and Theory of Knowledge. He received his K-12 principal and superintendent licensure from St. Mary’s University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Shortly after, Vladimir moved to Switzerland to take the post of Assistant Headmaster of Leysin American School, where he later became Headmaster. At the same time, he completed his doctoral program in Educational Leadership with a concentration in K-12 administration. He has since led schools in Germany, India, and Switzerland.
In every school Vladimir has led, he was deeply involved in campus redesign, adapting facilities to new pedagogy, designing purpose-built facilities, and developing master plans — he strongly believes that the physical environment is one of the key drivers in modern education and plays a critical role in student success.
Vladimir is also an adjunct professor: he teaches in the Master’s in International Administration program at Endicott College, supervises doctoral students at Grand Canyon University, and serves as a field instructor with the Klingenstein Center at Columbia University’s Teachers College.
An active promoter of international education as a vehicle for developing international-mindedness in young people, Vladimir often speaks to schools and audiences around the world on international education, cross-cultural communication, and school design. He is fluent in his native Russian, English, German, and Polish, with working knowledge of additional languages.
